Al Volo specializes in the design and manufacturing of data acquisition systems for small- to mid-sized UAVs. The company was formed in 2016 to fill the gap of data acquisition systems available for use on unmanned aircraft. Previously, systems on the market either did not provide a sufficient range of sensors and measurement rates or were too large and heavy to fit on small- to mid-sized unmanned aircraft. Individuals or groups interested in acquiring onboard flight data were either left to use inferior systems or spend a considerable amount of effort and resources to develop their own system. Al Volo has integrated the latest state-of-the-art sensors and processors, to bring to market a data acquisition system capable of acquiring, recording, and transmitting high-fidelity data from a wide range of sensors at rates of up to 400 Hz.
Al Volo LLC was founded by two Ph.D. students from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in embedded system design and implementation and in-flight measurement of aerodynamic data on unmanned aircraft. The founders bring over a decade of experience in developing data acquisition systems and almost two decades of experience in designing, constructing and operating unmanned aircraft.
